Class Descriptions

Adaptive
Designed for students with special physical needs. Those who attend this class enjoy various degrees of mobility: some students are able to stand easily, some are not. Some students can move to the floor while others cannot. Class is typically held in a very intimate setting of 2-4 students. Donna is on the resource list of both the Parkinsons’ Disease and Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Beginner
For anybody who wants to do yoga: first-time students and those with more experience, students addressing chronic issues from lower back pain to post-operative surgeries, athletes who want to complement their current athletic practice, and those looking for a practice to reduce their stress. Classes are typically 3-7 students and are non-competitive. Students are encouraged to express their needs to Donna, who will adapt each class to the needs that the students express to her. First-timers receive particular attention since the biggest challenge is getting used to teacher instructions.

Gentle
The same as the Beginner level class, except chairs are available to modify poses for comfort and accessibility. Gentle yoga practitioners are mostly, but not exclusively, individuals 50+. There are students who have attended the Gentle Yoga class for years because they continue to become stronger, more flexible and able to do more.

Intermediate
For students familiar with basic asana (postures) and who are interested in learning additional yoga practices such as pranayama, mudra, inversions, meditation, advanced relaxation (yoga nidra). A great class to take in addition to the Beginner level class.
